Leaf Collection

The Department of Public Works will be collecting leaves at the curb weekly throughout the borough using the vacuum method from October 21st through December 2nd.   Please do not place leaves at the curb after Sunday, December 1st. Once the vacuum crews have passed your house they will not return for the season.

The Mulch Area will open on March 6 and will be open 1-4 on Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 12-4. There will be a one time brush pickup on March 18.

If you have brush to be collected by the public works department please follow these simple guidelines:

•Place material at the side of the road with ends facing the roadway.
•Bundles must be less than twelve inches in diameter and six feet in length.
•Logs cannot be more than 6" in diameter and 6' in length. No 18" lengths (firewood) barrels.
•Please no tree stumps, and no logs over six feet long - they will not be collected.

The following items may not be disposed of at the site: stumps, concrete, building materials, old fence materials, limbs in excess of 4" in diameter, lumber, landscape ties, lawn furniture, and metal items. Please dispose of these type items in a 32-gallon can, or in green bags, an as part of Bulk Waste Collection. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE YARD WASTE IN THE STREET.

Operating hours in the fall months are Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 11:45am and 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Wood is available and free for residents; no power tools are allowed at the mulch site.

Wood and leaf mulch is available for delivery; $30 for 2.5 yards and $50 for 5 yards. Please call 973-635-5242 to set up your delivery.

Who maintains the shade trees by the roadside? The Borough maintains a public right of way, which may vary from street to street but averages usually ten (10) feet from the curb line. The Department of Public Works maintains all trees in the public right of way.

PSE&G Gas System Reinforcement Program

Starting in May, and over the next several months, PSE&G will be undertaking a gas system reinforcement program which will encompass multiple roads in the Borough.

Please see the map for proposed project location. PSE&G is responsible for notifying residents when they will be on their street.
