| The Borough of Chatham Bureau of Fire Safety is the Local Enforcing Agency of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code. The Bureau of Fire Safety is responsible for inspecting commercial properties including the common areas of multiple family dwellings, the issuance of Fire Safety Permits and for the investigation of fires.
The Borough of Chatham Bureau of Fire Safety is headed by Walter Nugent serving in the capacity of Fire Official. Walter has been an employee of the Borough of Chatham since November of 2002 and has fire code enforcement experience since 1996. Chris D’Ambrosio has been a Borough of Chatham employee since 1999 and has been serving in the Bureau of Fire safety since March of 2003 as a fire inspector.
