PARKING

CHATHAM BOROUGH PARKING PERMITS

Parking Permits for the Chatham Borough Railroad Station are available to Chatham Borough residents only, at a yearly cost of $350.00. At the present time there is a waiting list for Railroad Permits. Metered parking is available to the general public at $5.00 per day. All metered spaces are numerically marked and exact change should be deposited in the box on the platform and the space number should be entered. A receipt will be issued as proof of payment.

We also maintain three parking lots for business owners/employees and apartment residents.( Bowers Lane, Center Street East and Center Street West). At the present time we are also selling a limited number of yearly permits for these lots to Chatham Borough commuters.

Attention Commuters:

The machines will accept coins, Dollar bills, and the new Chatham Borough Smartcard.  The machines will be collecting the 2008 daily rate of $5.00. Please be advised that these machines will not give change, therefore be prepared with coins or Dollar bills.  Tokens will no longer be accepted or sold for these machines.  Residual tokens left from the previous machines will be refunded by the Borough or credited towards the new Chatham Borough Smartcard.  The Smartcards are available for purchase in person at Borough Hall, or by mail using the initial purchase order form.  These forms will be available in the lobby of the Chatham Train Station, the Finance / Tax Office located on the Main Level of Borough Hall Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or download here (Adobe PDF required). Once a Smartcard is purchased, it can be recharged at both machines located on the platform of the Chatham Train Station, or in Borough Hall during normal business hours. The Borough of Chatham’s Parking Services Department is pleased to announce that the parking meters located at the South Side Train Station platform will accept the Smartcard Technology.

The Chatham Borough Smartcard is a fast easy way to pay for parking.  You may continue to pay with coins and bills; but why not make paying for parking easy on yourself.  Simply use a Smartcard.

Chatham Smartcards are rechargeable too!  There is no need to keep ordering cards, just recharge the same card.  Order your Smartcard today!
