Chatham Borough is contracted with the Westfield Regional Health Department for all Health Services.
The availability of the vaccine is key. Currently, the demand in New Jersey far exceeds supply, which is clearly the case for the Morris Vaccination Center.

If you have COVID-19 or have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, you may be contacted by a contact tracer at the Westfield Health Department who Chatham Borough contracts with for our Health Services . Please cooperate with them to help stop the spread of the virus.

Health services in Chatham Borough are conducted under the direction of the Board of Health. Six members are appointed to serve 3-year terms and two alternate members are appointed to serve 2-year terms. Appointments to the Board of Health are made the Mayor upon advice and consent of the Council. Click here to view Board of Health Agendas and Minutes . Dog and Cat Licensing - Residents with dogs or cats are required to license their pets. As required by the state, dogs must be vaccinated for the license year before a license is issued, and a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate is required. The license fee for a spayed/neutered dog is $18.00 per year. For non-spayed/ neutered animals the fee is $30.00. Renewals of existing licenses are due by January 31 of each year. A late fee of $7.00 is charged for all renewals received after this date.

Retail Food Licensing - Individuals, partnerships or corporations that operate any type of business that serves or sells food in Chatham Borough, whether on a permanent or temporary basis, must obtain a Food License from the Chatham Borough Board of Health. All food establishments are inspected by the Westfield Registered Environmental Health Specialist (R.E.H.S).
Retail Food Establishments are rated on standards set forth by Chapter 24 of the New Jersey Sanitary Code. Retail Food Establishments are inspected biannually, and ratings are posted in the front of each establishment for public viewing.

Retail Food Establishment Plan Review Application
The New Jersey State Sanitary Code, Chapter 24, Sanitation in Retail Food Establishments, N.J.A.C. 8:24-9.1 requires that plans and specifications be submitted to the health authority for review whenever a retail food establishment is constructed, renovated/remodeled or significantly altered or when a structure is converted to use as a retail food establishment. Construction, renovation, alteration or conversion may not be initiated until plans and specifications have been approved by the health and construction authorities.
