The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women's constitutional right to vote.  

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Ratification of the 19th Amendment the Borough of Chatham will light the front entrance of Borough Hall in purple, one of the colors of the New Jersey Suffrage movement, beginning this week, and ending February 18.

This historic centennial offers an unparalleled opportunity to commemorate a milestone of democracy and to explore its relevance to the issues of equal rights today.

Chatham Borough is seeking a Pool Manager for the Summer of 2020.
PSE&G to Issue a Bill Credit for Gas Supply in February and March (pdf)
PSE&G announced today that it is issuing a bill credit for its gas supply during February and March due to lower gas supply costs. A typical residential customer who receives gas supply from PSE&G will save about $26, or 9%, for usage during February and March of 344 therms.
Plastic Bag Ban Information (pdf)
Madison & the Chathams: Single Use Bag Ordinance goes into effect March 1, 2020. Plastic carry-out bags will be banned at retail establishments. Paper bags will be available for a fee at check out. The goal: shift to reusable bags.

JCP&L Tree Trimming (pdf)
Beginning in or about the second week of March 2020, JCP&L contractor Nelson Tree Service will be performing distribution line clearance tree trimming in Chatham Borough. This work will include the routine trimming of limbs to provide 4 years of clearance from electric wires, selective removal of limbs overhanging the electric conductors and removal of hazard trees that pose an imminent risk to electric facilities. All tree removals are performed in accordance with JCP&L’s easement rights or otherwise with the written consent of the property owner.

Sometimes a novel (new) type of coronavirus emerges and begins infecting humans like in Wuhan, China. Since the coronavirus is new and people have not developed resistance to it, the virus is causing an outbreak of respiratory illness.

Bring Your Own Bag! - Reduce Single Use Plastic Waste
Help reduce our community's single use plastic waste by participating in the Bring Your Own Bag initiative. Starting June 1st, 2019, a collection box will be placed inside the Chatham Borough Hall main entrance, where community members can pick-up or drop-off their reusable bags! There will also be a collection box at the Chatham Borough Farmers’ Market located at Railroad Plaza South, operating every Saturday between June 15th and November 23rd.

Morris County Awards Ash Tree Removal Contract to Deal with Infestation of Tree-Killing Insect. Morris County is initiating a long-term tree removal program along county roads to deal with infestation caused by Emerald Ash Borer.

Due to the high volume of package inquires, customers may leave a detailed message if they are not able to speak to someone live.
