NJ TRANSIT INFORMATION: RAIL LINE MODIFICATION 2/15 - 3/15

February 15 through March 15 - Nearly all NJ Transit rail lines will operate on temporary modified schedules for about one month as Amtrak begins transferring rail operations from the existing Portal Bridge to the new Portal North Bridge over the Hackensack River. The “cutover” marks a major Gateway Program milestone and is essential for long-term reliability and capacity improvements along the Northeast Corridor.

During the work, trains will run on a single track between Newark and Secaucus, leading to consolidations, cancellations, and adjusted departure times or stopping patterns on all lines except the Atlantic City Rail Line. NJ TRANSIT has coordinated with Amtrak and regional partners to maintain capacity, continuity and safety throughout the transition. Regular schedules are expected to resume March 15, pending completion of safety testing.
