Trash & Recycling

 Orange  - If your address is North of Main Street your new garbage collection day will be Tuesdays. Borough containers must be used. Bulk pickup day will be the first Friday of the month. 

 Blue  - If your address is south of Watchung Avenue your new garbage collection day will be Thursdays. Borough containers must be used. Your Bulk pickup day will be the third Friday of the month. 

 Yellow  - If your address is between Main Street and Watchung Avenue your new garbage collection day will be Wednesdays. Borough containers must be used. Your Bulk pickup day will be the second Friday of the month.

Extra garbage stickers will only be available up to three times per year, per household.

The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) collects recyclable materials in Chatham Borough at curbside and recommends using 32-gallon containers with lids that weigh no more than 50 pounds. Recyclable items can be comingled in the container for single-stream collection; however, the MUA does not accept plastic grocery store plastic bags with your recycling because these plastic bags jam the sorting mechanisms at the recycling facility. Plastic grocery store bags can be returned to the grocery store. Most grocery stores will accept them. 

1. Allow 3 feet between carts and structures such as mail boxes, lamp posts and 5 feet from cars

2. Face the metal bar toward the street

3. Make sure the lid is closed
